Darkness. If one word could describe the world before the Bushido army, that would be it. Ineidou was a grim place; surrounded by corruption; governed by chaos.

Yours was not what you bought or what you earned, but what you managed to steal; If you could keep it yours, that is.

Any food, other than plain rice, was a luxury. And sometimes even that was a blessing; katanas would be unsheathed on the market streets over a loaf of bread and a half-empty bottle of sake.

Something as dishonourable as backstabbing or invading someone’s home was now normal; necessary at times. An Owl being with values meant a foolish and naive Owl being.

Until, somewhen, a glimmer of hope appeared. Or seven, to be exact.

Seven villages, across the country, started behaving strangely. Their Owls got enlightened and each of the villages had a different value bestowed upon them.

In one of those villages, people started showing Compassion (Jin); He who had an extra plate of food would share it with him who had none; For he understood his pain.

In another, they started living with Honour (Meiyo). They stopped stealing and attacking from the shadows. They would instead work to earn what they wanted.

Some Owls would show Heroic Courage (Yuuki) and would help a fellow villager when aid was needed, not hesitating even against sword-masters or fierce, wild animals.

Respect (Rei) would be shown; to themselves and others. Everyone deserves respect and you, yourself, should not act or speak in a way that makes you or anyone else lesser.

And in other villages, they would live with Integrity (Gi), Sincerity (Makoto), and Loyalty (Chuugi)

These are the seven values of the Bushido God, who, sick of the state the world was in, chose a worthy warrior from each of these villages and blessed every one of them with one of the God's values.

These warriors, now called “the Masters” of their respective value, had the power to impact the very souls of the people around them. It was the Masters' responsibility to teach other Owl beings about the way of Bushido and to protect the weak and helpless.

Every Master was a mighty warrior, accustomed to the hardships of war, and had his own army of followers, loyal to the God of Bushido, sworn to eradicate the corruption and darkness of this world. But none of the Masters could make such an impact alone.

And they did not have to. A feeling in their heart was telling each of them to visit the capital city; this is where the seven Bushido Masters met for the first time and recognised each other as worthy allies. That fated night, they bonded over a bottle of sake and oathed to serve the will of the Bushido God and to get rid of this world’s darkness once and for all.

This is how the fabled Bushido Army was created, spreading the seven virtues of Bushido and fighting for what is good and just.

They moved from village to village, sharing their wisdom with everyone who was willing to listen. Those who were able to abide by these virtues managed to live peacefully and compassionately with the protection of each other, away from chaos.
